Branding Your Food Business - Mistakes To Avoid So You Can Save Money!

Updated: Jan 6, 2019

Building your brand is one of the most important steps for establishing your business and generating recognition. As with anything though, there are certain things you should avoid doing or else you’ll wind up making a costly mistake.

For any small business or start-up, these are the biggest branding mistakes that you need to avoid.

Being inconsistent

Not forming a cohesive brand completely screams amateur. Of course you want to get out there and into the market but doing it all willy-nilly will only set you back further. Build a branding and marketing plan and stick with it.

Skimping on the logo

Your logo needs to generate brand recognition from the moment it’s seen. When you look at the world’s most famous logos, you don’t need any words. You KNOW what it stands for. Unless you’re a world-class graphic artist yourself, don’t attempt to cut costs by designing it.

Unrelated visuals

When creating branding, a picture is definitely worth a thousand words. But using visuals that have nothing to do with your business or industry can come off as confusing and off-putting. Use things that truly tie in with your business.

Not utilising the online world

The internet opens a whole new world of reach with your business. Not going on there and promoting your brand through social media platforms or publishing poor content that no one can relate to is the kiss of death in today’s economy. Make your presence positive and well-known.

Not budgeting for marketing

We get it. You have a budget. But when you don’t budget for marketing, you won’t be growing your business. Marketing is an investment in your company. Using it wisely will help you obtain more market share, and isn’t that what you’re going for here?
